Silverlake powers ahead with cost-cutting, eco-friendly car battery reuse scheme
Hampshire-based automotive recycling innovator, Silverlake Automotive Recycling, is helping drivers cut costs and carbon with a pioneering new service offering quality-graded, warrantied, recycled car batteries, delivering savings of up to 70% compared to new.
The company has invested in state-of-the-art US technology to test, repurpose and warranty batteries from end-of-life combustion engine vehicles, which were previously destined to be sent to external recyclers for materials extraction, before ending in landfill. The move results in affordable, reliable batteries that keep cars running and waste out of the environment.
The service has seen strong public uptake, bolstered by a popular trade-in scheme, where motorists can exchange their old car battery and offset the cost for a quality tested, repurposed alternative, complete with a 12-month warranty.
Silverlake’s Managing Director, Allen Prebble, says the move aligns with the company’s mission to cut motoring costs and protect the environment, supporting carbon reduction and Zero Waste to Landfill targets.
“After seeing the latest reuse technology at an international recycling convention, I knew this was a strategic move for the business. We already help motorists save with reclaimed parts and part-worn tyres; repurposed batteries were a natural next step. At a time when the cost of living is biting, we’re proud to offer a greener, cheaper, high-quality alternative.”
By reducing demand for newly manufactured batteries, often shipped across continents, Silverlake’s scheme contributes to significantly lower carbon emissions.
This latest initiative reinforces Silverlake’s reputation as a national leader in sustainable vehicle recycling, and a local champion for cost-conscious, eco-savvy motoring.
